Hi.
My name is David Fowler, founder of Dad's Mad
Hatter. I want to tell you a little bit about
where I come from and the story behind why I
started making these hats and started this company.

This
company is a tribute to my Dad. I grew up in
Flint, Michigan with my parents, Larry and Edna,
and my brother and sister. My Dad was an awesome
father, and a real unique man. He was a deaf
man, and couldn't hear or speak. But that did
not stop him from living life to the fullest.
He worked hard and played hard. My Dad worked
for General Motors as a skilled tool and die
journeyman. He loved bikes and riding, and I
can remember all the cool hats he used to wear-
just like Elvis, Marlon Brando and Jimmy Dean.
He always seemed to be wearing a great hat,
and I can remember him waving it at us kids
or our pets when we were misbehaving. That's
kind of where the name Dad's Mad Hatter came
from, and even though my father has now passed
away, I've dedicated these efforts to his memory.

Bringing
these hats to life has been an adventure for
me, and not always the easiest road. Previously,
I had worked a few different jobs and trades,
from making fiberglass boats, working on molds,
to commercial fishing. I've worked sword fishing
boats offshore and spent a lot time on the ocean.
But I always thought about creating something,
and then I got the idea to try to create hats
like my Dad used to wear. And the ideas started
flowing and I started spending my nights and
weekends working with |
  |
fiberglass molds to create the initial prototypes.
In those days I was financially poor, and many
people helped me along the way and supported
me in my efforts. Finally, the hats began to
take shape, and I was lucky to have some people
invest in my ideas to launch the company. And
here we are. The first Rebel Rousers are making
their debut at Sturgis this August, and other
hat designs are on their way. |
Another important person in the venture is my
Mom. She has been a motivator and inspiration
for me and my dream. Ill be forever in
her debt and shall love her always. - Thanks
Mom |
